Roid Rage

Roid Rage

Roid Rage you’ve heard the phrase a million times and odds are you’ll hear it a million more but is it real, is it something that should concern most anabolic steroid users? Let’s get right to the point; anabolic steroids can increase aggression, this is one of the benefits of anabolic steroids. The more aggressive we are the harder we can train, the better we can perform and that’s the key to any sport related endeavor.  However, we’d all agree, increased aggression isn’t rage and it certainly isn’t roid rage.

There seems to be a general universally accepted fact regarding anabolic steroids and roid rage among experienced anabolic steroid users; it is agreed anabolic steroids increase aggression, so if you’re a jackass before anabolic steroid use you may indeed be an even bigger jackass on them; pretty cut and dry. This “Jackass” theory is generally accepted as truth but what about actual medical and scientific data, is there any data to support a concrete conclusion? Unfortunately when it comes to roid ragedata we are somewhat limited in terms of what’s available but there is some. From the majority of actual factual data providing studies, data shows aggression to be increased but in terms of all out roid ragethe increase in most cases is too small to measure.

What have we gathered so far? Roid rage in most cases is too small to measure but it can occur. It is important to note the word “CAN” this does not mean “WILL” there is not a point of absolution when we are discussing roid rage. An interesting note regarding most studies of roid ragethat goes hand-in-hand with what we’ve discussed. You recall the above where it’s mentioned a jackass may be a bigger jackass if he uses anabolic steroids. There have been scientific studies performed that lend to this understanding, inferring those who are predisposed to violent acts, hostility or rage before anabolic steroid use are usually the ones who exhibit violent acts, hostility or rage during anabolic steroid use. That’s a hard bit of information to ignore but is largely disregarded by those who wish roid rageto be universal. If an individual is angry or violent before and steroids increase aggression or even if steroids didn’t increase aggression, why would anyone expect a less violent individual? Of course they wouldn’t but this raises a more important question. If increases of aggression due to anabolic steroid use are too small to measure and if individuals who are not predisposed to violent acts or hostility use anabolic steroids would roid ragebe something to expect? Again, the answer is of course not.

It is important to note, some anabolic steroids will increase aggression more than others. Trenbolones are a member of the family of steroids that can greatly increase aggression, as is Halotestin. One can conclude, if an individual who is predisposed to rage used one of these anabolics then the chance of all out “Roid Rage” may be more prominent. We also cannot ignore the effects of increased testosterone; testosterone, part of its very nature is aggression; it stands to reason increased levels of testosterone will increase aggression.

We must also point out, as briefly mentioned early on, aggression and violent behavior are not one in the same and it’s irresponsible to quantitate the two as one in the same. An individual who is not by nature an angry person, who is not by nature hostile or violent, if he uses anabolic steroids you bet, he will be more aggressive in his training and performance; that’s not a bad thing. This individual can use anabolic steroids and in doing so not even consider the idea of roid rage.

In short, it all boils down to two simple things; personal responsibility and personal accountability. Anabolic steroids do not alter our minds; they do not perform some brain twisting mind melt on the individual. In the end we all choose what we do and how we do it and we are all responsible for the actions we take. With or without anabolic steroids these actions are ours and ours alone to answer for.
